Overview
The official glossary describes onion-shaped snapping structures arranged in a large undulating pit in the Endless Forest. Approaching it risks being caught and eaten, giving the terrain itself an active predatory function. Its apparent immobility does not make it an ordinary safe landmark, and its several visible bulbs are not separately identified creatures with independent names or species profiles.
Age of Resistance uses the site within the confrontation with the Hunter, making knowledge of the surrounding environment relevant to a conflict between larger characters. The glossary is unusually explicit about naming: the Gobbles can mean the creature or the location, and it remains singular despite the final letter s. That distinction is preserved here rather than splitting a place and a monster into duplicate entries or inventing a population of similarly named pits.
First appearances & development
The reviewed screen treatment comes from the 2019 prequel, supported by its official glossary. The term's use as both creature and location is an intentional feature of the franchise documentation. Earlier printed appearances and an absolute first publication date are not supplied without a fuller bibliography investigation.
Canon & continuity
The official G glossary directly establishes the snapping-bulb pit, forest location, danger and singular name. The primary series supplies its story setting; the primary guide clarifies terminology. This bounded evidence does not establish a Latin classification, ordinary plant ancestry, complete digestive system or a world-wide distribution of identical predators.
