Overview
The Diablo II guide places Fallen in the Western Kingdoms' woodlands and describes small encampments without a demonstrated unified organisation. Their numbers make them threatening, yet the death of a nearby companion can send them running. Carvers, Devilkin, Dark Ones and Warped Ones are related encounter forms within the guide's grouping. The introductory observer treats resurrection as a rumour; the same page's practical instructions explicitly confirm that shamans raise fallen companions. The discrepancy belongs to the presentation's uncertain observer, not to a requirement that players disregard the mechanic.
The separate Shaman account explains that the position requires training attained by unusually courageous and intelligent members. These spellcasters combine firebolts with resurrection, making them dangerous through both their own attack and the return of defeated followers. Resurrected Fallen do not award another round of experience in the selected guide. This produces a camp encounter whose apparent progress can be reversed, while deaths also interrupt the ordinary fighters' willingness to stand their ground.
The expansion-era Act V guest account reuses these monsters and distinguishes its implementations. For example, its Dark Ones may deal fire damage, whereas the earlier Act I account lists poison; the Warped Ones associated with Colenzo may deal cold damage. Those differences are attached to the named encounter pages rather than harmonised into one compulsory elemental attack or padded into separate species profiles.
First appearances & development
The selected account compares Diablo II's original Fallen grouping with the official expansion-era guide's Act V guests. Lord of Destruction was released in 2001, but the maintained guide also reflects later implementation changes. This entry does not establish an exhaustive first appearance across the series or a single unchanged ruleset.
Canon & continuity
Complete official Fallen and Shaman lore and practical instructions were inspected, together with the Act V guest page. The sources establish fear, training, resurrection and selected elemental differences. Their statistical tables are not represented as a complete current Diablo II: Resurrected balance audit, and the observer's uncertainty is distinguished from explicit gameplay instructions.
