Overview

Tolkien Gateway describes Erkenbrand assuming command after Théodred's death. He requests reinforcements while gathering armed men and provisions for the Hornburg, leaving field command with Grimbold.

Gandalf directs the scattered defenders to join him. Their arrival turns the siege, but Erkenbrand subsequently remains in Rohan to command its defence while Théoden rides to Gondor. Éomer later appoints him Marshal of the West-mark. Film substitutions and game events are excluded.
