Overview
Ebrietas waits at the Altar of Despair beneath the cathedral precinct, and the hunter initiates the confrontation by attacking. Her long tentacles, bodily charges and crushing head attacks combine physical reach with supernatural danger. Spat blood can inflict frenzy, while a later damaging aura punishes proximity and a shower of cosmic projectiles reaches more distant targets. The encounter therefore changes the problem of staying close without making her a conventional plague beast. A further Isz dungeon appearance is grouped as an encounter form rather than proof that one slain individual revived.
The Augur of Ebrietas identifies invertebrate phantasms as means of partially summoning the abandoned Great One. Its account connects an early encounter with inquiry into the cosmos and the Choir's establishment. The Great Isz Chalice complements that history: returned to the surface after Byrgenwerth's era, it became a foundation of the Choir and enabled an audience with Ebrietas. These texts establish a specific relationship between creature and institution. They do not conclusively identify her as the mother of Rom, explain every source of Healing Church blood, or turn Daughter of the Cosmos into a documented biological pedigree.
First appearances & development
Ebrietas belongs to Bloodborne's 2015 base game, with an optional cathedral encounter and an Isz labyrinth appearance. Her title and selected tools provide narrative context beyond combat. Priority 2 follows the creature-focused treatment; her Great One status is not downgraded to ordinary wildlife or treated as a fictional human people.
Canon & continuity
The encounter reference supplies attacks and placement, while reproduced Augur and Great Isz Chalice text explicitly ties Ebrietas to cosmic inquiry and the Choir. The 2024 publisher guide page verifies bibliography and combined coverage only. No unseen guide lore chapter, speculative etymology or fan-constructed mother-daughter relationship is adopted.
