Overview

The Dreugh's aquatic body combines a roughly humanoid torso with tentacles, claws and a hard outer covering. Daggerfall presents it as an underwater opponent, with regeneration in water and darkness, resistance to magic and a weakness to frost. These are that game's rules, not a universal statistical package. The creature is harvested for hide and shell wax. ESO's official development account begins with earlier lore and concept art, then describes a model followed by behaviour, animation, abilities, sound and effects. It also preserves legends of lost intelligence and Dreugh kings, which remain legendary history.

Fronto Maecilius's Revolting Life Cycle describes a mostly scavenging aquatic animal that sometimes cuts fishing nets to steal their contents. During karvinasim, it grows into a land-walking form that favours marshes and rivers near open water. Territorial broodmothers guard hatchlings, and Maecilius reports a lethal attack on his expedition's geographer. After approximately a year ashore, the Dreugh returns to water and undergoes meff, consuming now-unneeded land skin and air organs before expelling fibrous grom. His disgust and the expedition's culling plans are part of the narrator's perspective. The lifecycle does not justify treating land and water Dreugh as unrelated species or assuming that legends of kings are an observed modern civilisation.

First appearances & development

Daggerfall provides the selected 1996 encounter witness; Morrowind, Oblivion and ESO elaborate the creature's uses and forms. The official Creating ESO article was published in December 2012 before the game's release. Its production sequence concerns ESO's adaptation, while the in-game field notes provide an attributed lifecycle account rather than a real biological report.

Canon & continuity

Daggerfall's creature reference, the complete field-note transcription and the complete archived official development article were read through UESP's public API. The original publisher endpoint currently presents an age gate. Mythic rulers and degeneration are qualified traditions; unofficial creation myths and an unviewed linked video add no adopted facts.
