Overview
Mimir identifies Dreki as a dragon variant native to Vanaheim, despite their conspicuous presence in Svartalfheim. His written confession explains that Odin ordered him to destabilize the dwarves’ ecosystem and thereby encourage industrialization. Introducing these predators did more damage than he anticipated: several native species disappeared, and the imbalance would take lifetimes to repair. This account gives their movements a political and ecological context rather than treating every realm where an enemy appears as its original habitat. Mimir’s responsibility is part of the story, and his pledge to help is not evidence that restoration has already succeeded.
The first selected encounter begins beside a dead Dreki before another emerges from the water. Its long jaws, powerful tail and close-range attacks require Kratos and Atreus to act together; the sequence ends with their coordinated knife strikes. Their later discussion raises the possibility that the living attacker killed the first creature, but does not settle that question. The corpse therefore cannot establish a universal mating ritual or territorial cause. Sony’s 2021 preview already named Dreki among the coming game’s adversaries, while the released narrative supplies the much fuller confession. Crocodilian resemblance describes their appearance; neither the game account nor that promotional introduction establishes real crocodile ancestry.
First appearances & development
Sony named Dreki in its September 2021 preview of Ragnarök, followed by the released 2022 game. The profile selects that implementation and Mimir’s codex confession. Later memory-generated encounters are not treated as evidence for a new natural species or an earlier 2018 appearance.
Canon & continuity
The official preview confirms the named adversary but supplies no ecological biography. The dedicated creature reference and independently returned game-script transcription corroborate Mimir’s confession and the first encounter. The transcription remains a reference witness; no whole game playthrough or uninspected fight-guide mechanics are claimed.
