Overview

Dokma survive on Atollon despite its apparently barren landscape. Their small bodies carry protective outer shells, with eyestalks distinguishing them from an inert pebble or piece of terrain. The official Databank explicitly identifies them as prey for the local krykna. Protection is therefore partial rather than an invulnerability rule. The two animals show different positions in a shared food web: the visible giant predator is supported by smaller life that travellers might otherwise overlook. Zeb’s nickname for the creatures in Rebels is not a separate species name.

A specialist account attributes a more detailed cycle to Dawn of Rebellion: young live below ground in water, later emerge, shed a shell and attach to coral-like structures before growing another. This is a licensed reference expansion beyond the brief screen appearance. It should not be presented as a freshly observed animation sequence or a real-world classification study. Pairing and the return of young to underground water explain why a seemingly dry surface need not be the animal’s complete habitat. The record retains that supplemental context while keeping its source visible.

First appearances & development

Dokma first appeared in the 2016 Rebels episode The Mystery of Chopper Base. The later tabletop era guide Dawn of Rebellion was published in 2018, independently verified through its publisher. Its expanded life cycle belongs to licensed reference material and is not claimed to have been fully narrated in the original episode.

Canon & continuity

The Databank establishes Atollon, timid behaviour, shell and krykna predation. The indexed specialist page attributes its life-cycle account specifically to Dawn of Rebellion; the book’s release is separately verified. No fresh inspection of the whole sourcebook or precise page is asserted, and resemblance to terrestrial gastropods does not prove fictional ancestry.
