Overview

Diabolos is a recurring demonic summon whose black-and-red body, large wings and long tail create a stark silhouette. Final Fantasy VIII introduces him as Diablos, an optional opponent encountered through the Magical Lamp and recruitable as a Guardian Force. His Dark Messenger attack is associated with fractional damage rather than a simple fixed elemental blast.

Later versions change both the creature's story and the effect of the signature attack. Final Fantasy VI Advance adds Diabolos as an esper obtained through content absent from the original 1994 game, so it is misleading to call him an original VI summon. XIV provides a separate voidsent antagonist with the same name. This profile follows VIII and VI Advance, keeping localization, remake-only appearances and setting-specific demonic origins visible rather than treating all references as one established biography.
