Overview

Colibri have prominent beaks, wings and elongated tails, and their encounter animations make them appear to hover around opponents. Their repertoire attacks several kinds of player resources. Snatch Morsel removes a food effect, Feather Tickle empties stored TP, and Pecking Flurry delivers successive physical strikes. Some colibri also reproduce offensive magic cast upon them, including eligible spells, songs and ninjutsu. This is not ordinary reflection: the initial spell can affect the bird before it imitates the attack. The specialist account excludes Blue Magic and summoning attacks, and identifies forms such as Lesser Colibri that lack the behaviour. Exceptional named monsters may have additional moves, which should not be assigned to the whole family.

The publisher's chronology places colibri among the important encounters introduced with Treasures of Aht Urhgan in April 2006. Their usefulness for experience parties became a recognizable part of adventurers' practice. A December update added encounters around Tandjana Islet in the northwest of Bhaflau Thickets, with Greater Colibri particularly associated with high-level merit-point parties. Wings of the Goddess subsequently supplied colibri in past-era East Ronfaure, used by parties in a substantially lower level range. These records show a family distributed across different progression stages, not one fixed difficulty or identical ability set. The bird's reputation emerges from repeated group encounters and resource disruption rather than a single story boss.

First appearances & development

This treatment begins with XI's 2006 Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion and its later levelling history. The 2007 past-era colibri belong to Wings of the Goddess. No concept-art appearance in the 2004 World Concept book is asserted, and the familiar name does not establish a documented real-bird inspiration or biological ancestry.

Canon & continuity

Square Enix's 2006 and 2007 historical timelines document expansion context, added camps and players' use of colibri. The specialist family record supplies named attacks and the distinction between imitation and reflection. Those sources support a historical game-specific account; present encounter levels, patch balance and every named colibri's special abilities require separate verification.
