Overview

Capcom describes Bandersnatch as a practical, general-purpose alternative to the ideal Tyrant. Its human-derived body is conspicuously asymmetric: the right arm can extend with extraordinary speed, while the lower limbs are atrophied and the left arm contributes little. This combination makes it a dangerous pursuer without making it an efficient runner. The arm serves both as a striking weapon and as a means of moving between floors. A staircase therefore does not provide the separation that its poor walking ability might suggest.

The Code: Veronica guide places these creatures throughout Rockfort Island’s military and residential buildings. A warehouse specimen is released after the paired Ingrams are collected; another bursts through Alfred’s office window after the secret passage opens. These appearances make the weapon part of the island’s compromised military infrastructure, rather than a roaming natural species. The guide advises keeping distance or approaching from the side opposite the long arm. That direction matters because its reach is attached to an asymmetric body, not an equally capable pair of limbs.

First appearances & development

Code: Veronica (2000) introduces this distinct human-derived weapon. The publisher places it within Tyrant-oriented development but calls it a prototype rather than the finished ideal. Its bodily imbalance is a functional limitation of that programme. This profile covers the original game’s creature and encounter arrangement, not every later crossover representation.

Canon & continuity

The individual Capcom dossier supports the development brief, extending arm, poor lower-body mobility and inter-floor movement. The separately inspected game-specific guide supplies concrete Rockfort encounters and directional counterplay. Its extra explanation that appearance made the weapon unsuitable is not substituted for Capcom’s stated mobility limitation.
