Overview

Atronachs are elemental Daedra whose flame, frost and storm forms supply markedly different bodies. A conventional flame atronach resembles a burning, sometimes floating humanoid; a frost atronach is a bulky figure of ice; a storm atronach combines lightning with rocky debris. These are meaningful elemental types within a creature family, not merely interchangeable color changes. They may exist unbound or be summoned to perform a conjurer's work, so a temporary summoned body does not establish the whole history of an individual.

The named games implement different summoning conditions, attacks and resistances. ESO also includes deliberately shaped mounts and workers, whose animal outlines or occupations should not retroactively redefine every earlier humanoid atronach. Their Daedric identity keeps them distinct from ordinary weather and from unrelated fantasy elementals. This profile supplies a comparative family account, with separate citation-bearing references for the three selected types, while leaving exact spell costs, durations and broader summoning theory attached to their source titles.

First appearances & development

Selected comparison: Morrowind (2002), Skyrim (2011) and ESO (2014 onward). This entry follows the version represented by the primary works listed below, rather than treating the name as a single creature shared by every adaptation. Game lore and in-world narrators can conflict; gameplay abilities and playable body forms vary by title.

Canon & continuity

UESP's public MediaWiki API supplied the citation-bearing creature article; UESP is an independent reference, not an official publisher. Released games named in the bibliography are the canonical basis. In-game books, dialogue, mechanics and unofficial writings remain distinguishable within that reference. This task does not claim a complete replay or inspection of every later expansion.
