Overview

Armadillomon is a small yellow Digimon protected by a sturdy segmented shell. Its claws provide a close attack, while curling into a ball turns the armored body into a projectile. Bandai's reference describes an easygoing personality and an ancient lineage that permits special Armor Digivolution, linking the modest creature with both digging and aquatic transformed forms.

Adventure 02 makes Armadillomon the partner of Iori, called Cody in the English dub. The contrast between the partner's relaxed manner and the child's strict concern for right and wrong gives their relationship a recognizable character dynamic. Digmon and Submarimon arise through distinct Digi-Eggs, whereas Ankylomon follows a different evolutionary path. Official character material for The Beginning confirms the later partnership, but these individual traits and events remain separate from every Armadillomon in the broader franchise.

First appearances & development

Multiple continuities; selected Digimon Adventure 02 (2000). This entry follows the version represented by the primary works listed below, rather than treating the name as a single creature shared by every adaptation. Reference Book designs and television individuals are distinct; branching Digivolution routes vary by product and continuity.

Canon & continuity

Bandai's exact species page provides the form's reference classification, named attacks and descriptive lore. Digimon Adventure 02 supplies a separate primary portrayal of a named individual or transformation. These sources are complementary: the reference profile is not a transcript of every anime event, and localized attack names can differ from the Japanese text.

Veemon

The official profile explicitly says this Digimon descends from the same ancient species as Veemon. It does not name that ancestral species or supply a branching topology, so the shared fictional origin is recorded without inventing ancestors.
