Overview
The official glossary explicitly treats Arathim as a collective family name covering different forms. In Age of Resistance, large silk-spitting hunters and small mind-controlling Threaders belong to the same shared consciousness despite their different sizes and roles. Leg counts and visible bodies vary, so a familiar spider silhouette does not define the entire community or justify a fixed Earth classification.
Their conflicts with the Gelfling arise within a history of dispossession and Skeksis manipulation, with the cave homeland especially important to their grievances. The shared mind can communicate through controlled bodies or through an assembled visible expression, making diplomacy possible with beings initially encountered as enemies. This profile describes the family and its collective civilization together, rather than counting the family label and every descriptive subgroup as indistinguishable duplicate entries.
First appearances & development
The 2019 prequel supplies the reviewed screen forms and collective political account. Official mythology links them with older Thra history and printed world-building, but an exhaustive debut bibliography has not been established. Earlier in-world age is attributed to the community's history, not fabricated as a real publication year.
Canon & continuity
The official A glossary directly identifies the family structure, Silk Spitters, Threaders, shared mind and territorial conflict. The creature encyclopedia provides a shorter corroborating history. Priority 5 recognizes an intelligent political collective despite its predatory arthropod forms, and the profile does not present every subgroup as a separate civilization.
