Overview
Zorses are striped riding animals associated with the Jogos Nhai, whose breeding traditions combine horses with another striped animal of the eastern lands. Within the fictional setting they are useful mounts adapted to demanding plains conditions. Their striking coats also make them conspicuous among the traded and gifted animals that connect western characters with Essos.
Individual appearances include the eastern markets encountered by Daenerys and the mount of Vargo Hoat. The historical survey adds broader cultural and environmental context for Jogos Nhai husbandry. These are fictional accounts of a deliberately bred riding animal; the profile makes no claim that the novels establish real-world hybrid fertility, veterinary requirements or a scientifically reproducible breeding programme. Ordinary horses and separately named zorse mounts are not added as duplicate creature profiles.
First appearances & development
A Game of Thrones (1996) and A Clash of Kings (1998) include zorses in eastern trade and travel. The selected publication history identifies the sources used for this profile, rather than claiming an exhaustive first mention across every short story, companion publication and adaptation. The main novels and their historical companions share a literary setting, but narrators' reports can differ in reliability.
Canon & continuity
The cited reference indexes passages in A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, The World of Ice & Fire. Those published books are the underlying narrative basis; the wiki is an independent guide rather than an official statement by the author. Direct scenes, remembered testimony and fictional historical compilations are distinguished where they change the strength of a claim.
