Overview

The zakru’s feeding system connects its great size to a very slow rhythm. When it finds an underground microbial colony, it lowers itself, inserts trunk and tail into the soil, and extends branching tongue structures to collect fungal nutrients. Waste returned through the tail encourages future growth. This resting state can last weeks or months before the animal moves on. The publisher’s elephant comparison concerns the trunk and scale; the unusual digestive arrangement is an invented Pandoran mechanism, not an account of elephant anatomy.

Zeswa communities travel with the herds across the Upper Plains, using milk as food and the resting giants as sources of shelter and warmth. Their connection can persist over generations because the animals live so long. The guide describes empathetic responses to the clan’s grief and contentment, while the separate clan entry identifies a lively culture of riders, competitions and celebrations. The 2024 Sky Breaker product description explicitly places travelers alongside migrating zakru in new areas of the plains. That later journey extends their story role without creating a second species. Empathy is retained as a documented animal trait here; a complete political society comparable to the tulkun is not established.

Canon & continuity

The complete official species entry supports feeding, herd movement and Zeswa partnership. The clan guide independently establishes its social setting. Ubisoft’s actual expansion description and release record on Steam support the later migration; neither source supplies an independently measured natural history or a fresh full expansion playthrough.
