Overview
Yonghe inhabits Mount Feng in the Shanhaijing. Its body resembles an ape, with red eyes, a red muzzle and yellow coloring. Its appearance heralds great fear in the country.
The same mountain contains the spirit Gengfu and nine bells that ring in response to frost. Yonghe’s anatomy and fear omen are recorded separately from the spirit’s luminous movements and adverse appearance.
