Overview

Wenwen inhabits Mount Fanggao in the Shanhaijing. Its form resembles a bee, with a branched tail and a reversed tongue. It is good at calling out.

The collection introduces it as a beast despite the bee comparison. The Ming River flowing from the mountain contains blue-green jade; the unusual tail and tongue supply the creature’s particular anatomy within that landscape.
