Overview

The corporation identifies seven Wadawurrung family groups recognised under traditional lore and custom, descended from a named apical ancestor. Its account records incorporation in October 1998 and the coordination of Welcome to Country and smoking ceremonies.

The Victorian heritage council records appointments for part of the corporation’s application area in 2009 and the remaining area in 2013. These are institutional milestones, not dates of community origin.

The council’s geographical description includes Ballarat, Greater Geelong and neighbouring areas. Registered administrative boundaries should not be mistaken for a complete map of cultural relationships.
