Overview

Taifeng is the auspicious spirit governing Mount He in the Shanhaijing. Its form resembles a human with a tiger’s tail. It likes to dwell on the sunny side of Mount Fu, and light accompanies its movements.

The text attributes to Taifeng the movement of the forces of heaven and earth. Mount He has five bends and nine streams that merge and flow north, forming the geographical setting of the spirit’s notice.
