Overview
The 1984 climax turns Ray’s attempt to imagine something harmless into a colossal threat. Gozer assumes the familiar marshmallow mascot’s shape, and the resulting giant advances through New York toward the rooftop confrontation. Its destruction follows the Ghostbusters’ decision to cross their proton streams against the gateway. This is a chosen supernatural manifestation, rather than a naturally occurring animal whose size follows an established growth cycle. The mascot’s ordinary commercial presence and its destructive embodiment are different uses of the same image.
Afterlife’s Mini-Pufts retain that recognizable outline at a radically smaller scale. Its legs were redesigned for quicker movement rather than merely scaled down. A specialist film reference describes these small manifestations as destructive toward one another, with Frozen Empire using them in the orbit of its new antagonist. They remain a scoped comparison here, not twenty profiles for differently injured marshmallows. Other licensed versions also differ: an alternate comic explores a victory for the giant, while the Sega implementation has a separate origin. Neither supplies a universal continuation of the first film’s defeated form.
First appearances & development
The giant’s selected debut is the released 1984 film. This profile includes the important later Mini-Puft comparison while preserving separate film, alternate-comic and game treatments. It does not turn every miniature merchandise design or visual gag into an independently established species.
Canon & continuity
AFI’s inspected synopsis supports the original mascot choice and climax. Returned specialist bodies identify the alternate-continuity distinctions and Mini-Puft behavior. The complete fxguide firsthand account supplies the miniature design adaptation; its production explanation is kept separate from the entities’ supernatural origin.
