Overview

Nana Medina is explicitly distinguished from Mai-Fitilla even though Tremearne says their songs are the same and the two are sometimes confused. His short notice attributes illness to Nana Medina and identifies grey-speckled fowls as her ritual offering.

Her representative strikes face, chest and body and attempts to tear the clothing. Unlike the adjoining Mai-Fitilla entry, the passage gives her no fire-supervising duties or fire-eating scene. The brief witness therefore supports a distinct name and performance, but not an expanded invented biography or a securely separate current regional tradition.
