Overview

Krooths are swift wetland hunters with a taste for crocodiles and other substantial prey. The legacy entry distinguishes solitary territorial males from female groups that protect and provision vulnerable young. Its unusual mating account includes consumption of a male's organs as part of gestation. Those are fictional natural-history details, not biological claims about actual crocodiles or other reptiles.

A hollow, poisonous tooth can break off inside a bite wound, prolonging bleeding and draining the victim until it is safely removed. Removal does not itself guarantee the bleeding ends. Krooths also lash with their tails and may become more dangerous immediately after a severe wound. The 2024 rules rename the tail's opportunistic response Reactive Strike while retaining the tooth's distinctive treatment. Male internal organs attract naturalists and alchemists, supplying a hazardous collecting motive rather than an implication that every organ becomes a proven potion.

First appearances & development

This profile follows the named Pathfinder second-edition entries, keeping the 2019 legacy Bestiary separate from the 2024 Monster Core. These witnesses establish selected published treatments, not an exhaustive debut history. Other fantasy franchises' similarly named creatures do not automatically share this being's powers.

Canon & continuity

The licensed archive passages were inspected for the distinctive encounter behaviour and source page references. Repeated descriptions across editions are a shared textual witness, rather than two independent confirmations of every fact. The profile omits numeric combat statistics and does not claim a fresh reading of both complete rulebooks.
