Overview

Deep beneath Seelos, a joopa swallows prey whole rather than tearing it apart with teeth. Its ring of red eyes distinguishes the creature's head, while the subterranean setting makes its emergence a threat to anyone used as bait. The official guide identifies Lasats as favored prey. In The Lost Commanders, Rex, Wolffe and Gregor exploit that preference by using Zeb to attract a joopa. The same animal that threatens one member of the visiting rebel crew promises an enormous food supply to the veterans.

This encounter reverses the apparent roles of hunter and hunted: the clones pursue a predator for their own sustenance. The guide says one joopa can feed their crew for a year, a claim tied to those characters rather than a measured nutritional rule for every species. In the following episode, Relics of the Old Republic, they abandon their captured joopa when Imperial walkers force them toward a sandstorm. A hard-won food resource becomes something they must relinquish to survive a military threat.
