Overview

Jiaochong is a spirit on Mount Pingfeng in the Shanhaijing. It resembles a human with two heads and is associated with stinging creatures. Its dwelling is identified with bees.

The ritual instruction calls for offering a male chicken and performing an expulsion or propitiation without killing it. Mount Pingfeng has sand and stones but no vegetation or water; the spirit belongs to this explicitly described setting.
