Overview

A grikkitog is an earth parasite that transforms connected stone into a distributed hunting surface. Its young, formless existence becomes a core through occupation of an earth elemental. Once implanted, that core can spread eyes and biting mouths throughout neighbouring rock. A climber's handhold or a small creature's refuge can therefore become part of the predator rather than a safe piece of terrain.

The implanted core is immobile, and the infestation depends on physical continuity of earth or stone. It can release itself and travel, but its distributed vision and attacks belong to the implanted state. Barbed mouths pin victims and cause continued bleeding. This is one organism's spread, not a civilization of independent talking rocks. Accounts connecting its origin to Ayrzul are framed through elemental-world stories and beliefs; the published testimony does not justify declaring that every detail of the alleged first experiment is independently established.

First appearances & development

This profile follows the named Pathfinder second-edition entries, keeping the 2019 legacy Bestiary separate from the 2024 Monster Core. These witnesses establish selected published treatments, not an exhaustive debut history. Other fantasy franchises' similarly named creatures do not automatically share this being's powers.

Canon & continuity

The licensed archive passages were inspected for the distinctive encounter behaviour and source page references. Repeated descriptions across editions are a shared textual witness, rather than two independent confirmations of every fact. The profile omits numeric combat statistics and does not claim a fresh reading of both complete rulebooks.
