Overview

Star Trek's official retrospective places the first on-screen Gorn in Arena. It credits Wah Chang with the costume and Bobby Clark with the performance. The same retrospective traces later appearances in The Time Trap and in the Mirror Universe story In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II.

Strange New Worlds expanded the portrayal considerably. The official recap of Hegemony, Part II describes Gorn hatchlings developing inside Marie Batel. It also describes the Gorn relying on heat, biometrics and electromagnetic signatures. The episode ties coronal mass ejections to frenzied behavior and links certain flares to hibernation.

These accounts come from different series, timelines and life stages, and they do not combine into one complete biology. The Arena costume and performance credits are production history; the consulted sources state no zoological inspiration or species ancestry.
