Overview
Foglets use thick mist as concealment and a means of disorienting prey. They can create or gather fog, obscure routes and lure travellers with a pale light, so an encounter may begin as a misleading landscape rather than an obvious charge. Their arms and claws remain dangerous once the victim is within reach. The bestiary leaves some extraordinary illusion claims uncertain, a useful distinction between described abilities and dark rumours told about the creature.
Wild Hunt makes the shift between concealment and tangible attack central to the encounter. Geralt has to locate and expose the predator rather than trust every shape in the mist. The monster's placement around swamps, mountain routes and water margins links its tactics with places already difficult to navigate. This entry follows the 2015 game treatment and its licensed guide, not a universal account of all beings called foglers across novels, adaptations or folklore.
First appearances & development
The selected version is 2015 game and licensed-guide. CD Projekt RED's games adapt Sapkowski's setting while adding their own creature designs, quest histories and combat classifications. This profile identifies those game treatments, rather than asserting that every detail originates in the novels. Spellings and named variants remain within the same account unless a substantive independent comparison is required.
Canon & continuity
The Witcher Wiki is an independent reference, and its public MediaWiki API supplied the version-labeled bestiary text and relevant quest accounts. Publisher-hosted Prima guide excerpts provide additional context where listed. The bibliography identifies the actual game or reference chapter; it does not imply a complete audit of every novel, expansion, patch, screen adaptation or full guidebook.
