Overview
Ekimmaras are batlike vampire monsters that tear prey with claws and consume blood, rather than resemble elegant human aristocrats. Wild Hunt describes them as creatures associated with the Conjunction of the Spheres, explicitly rejecting a simple account of undead humans. Garlic, religious symbols and holy water consequently cannot be imported as universal weaknesses from another vampire tradition. Their swift attacks and regeneration make endurance a particularly poor assumption in a direct fight.
The games' distinctions among vampire kinds matter: an Ekimmara is not automatically a Higher Vampire merely because both are vampires, and the behaviour of Regis cannot stand in for this monster's habits. This entry follows Wild Hunt and its licensed guide, keeping the creature's game encounter separate from broader word histories or book-level classifications. It also preserves the localized Ekimmara name while linking the reference's Ekimma article, rather than creating duplicate profiles for those spelling treatments.
First appearances & development
The selected version is 2015 game and licensed-guide. CD Projekt RED's games adapt Sapkowski's setting while adding their own creature designs, quest histories and combat classifications. This profile identifies those game treatments, rather than asserting that every detail originates in the novels. Spellings and named variants remain within the same account unless a substantive independent comparison is required.
Canon & continuity
The Witcher Wiki is an independent reference, and its public MediaWiki API supplied the version-labeled bestiary text and relevant quest accounts. Publisher-hosted Prima guide excerpts provide additional context where listed. The bibliography identifies the actual game or reference chapter; it does not imply a complete audit of every novel, expansion, patch, screen adaptation or full guidebook.
