Overview
Colmillos are canines transformed by Las Plagas rather than by the T-Virus responsible for Cerberus. Capcom describes greatly enlarged fangs, increased endurance and aggression, and pack attacks arriving in waves. The parasite sometimes breaks through the back and uses tentacles as an additional weapon. The familiar biting predator therefore conceals a second attacking structure within its own body. The publisher translates the Spanish name as fangs; that naming explanation does not establish a direct relationship to a folkloric hound.
The original Resident Evil 4 guide identifies wolf experiments by Los Illuminados and records Colmillos near the village church and throughout the castle’s courtyard maze. Some emerge during exploration, while caged animals and later appearances complicate the route through the hedges. Capcom instead uses the broader description of infected dogs, so an exact host identification should retain its source. The encyclopedia compares them with Resident Evil 5’s split-headed Adjule but leaves the reason for the difference unresolved between host and parasite possibilities. That question is not confirmation that Colmillos always evolve into Adjule or that both weapons use identical Plaga strains.
First appearances & development
Resident Evil 4 (2005) establishes this Plaga-infected canine type. Its original church and castle encounters are the selected scope. The later Adjule comparison belongs to Capcom’s retrospective dossier and is retained as a distinction between presentations, rather than a newly invented evolutionary sequence or a separate colour variant.
Canon & continuity
The official individual dossier directly supports pack attacks, fangs, parasite tentacles and enhanced endurance. The inspected original-game specialist guide adds specific village and castle locations and its narrower wolf identification. The publisher’s explicit uncertainty about Adjule differences is preserved; a shared infection category alone does not settle host ancestry.
