Overview
The released Java 1.21 breeze leaps around its target, firing wind charges that cause direct-impact damage and a knockback burst. It deflects most incoming projectiles, with wind charges explicitly excepted. Dedicated trial-chamber spawners produce it among the structure's challenges. Its attack changes the arena too: eligible doors, trapdoors, gates, buttons and levers can toggle, bells ring and candles go out. Iron doors and trapdoors resist the burst, as do blocks held by redstone. Pots and chorus flowers can break. This is a specified set of interactions, rather than authority over every block.
Player-killed breezes drop rods; a rod and heavy core craft the mace. That released recipe qualifies publicity loosely describing wind charges as the dropped reward. Development is visible in dated official witnesses. The October 2023 Live recap announced the wind attacker with forthcoming procedural chambers and their party-size-sensitive challenges. A February 2024 Bedrock preview subsequently made the creature aggressive toward iron golems and changed retaliation against several other mobs. June's release records the final non-retaliation list. These changes document encounter balance, without supplying an ancient elemental history or a canonical relationship to the blaze.
First appearances & development
The official Minecraft Live recap announced the breeze in October 2023. Tricky Trials released as Java Edition 1.21 on June 13, 2024, after experimental development. Its trial-chamber role belongs to that update, rather than Minecraft's 2011 full release. The earlier preview remains a dated account of development.
Canon & continuity
The complete relevant released Java changelog supplies attacks, block interactions, projectile exceptions and rods. Jay Wells's preview note supplies a documented earlier behavior adjustment, while Sophie Austin's recap supports the announcement context. Bedrock release material agrees on major features but is not counted as a second independent source for repeated mechanics.
