Spiny seahorse (Hippocampus histrix) from the northern coast of East Timor. This individual was very close in color to the soft coral it was hanging on to. The artificial light from the strobes brought out a hint of pink in its coloration.

The spiny seahorse (Hippocampus histrix), also referred to as the thorny seahorse, is a small marine fish in the family Syngnathidae, native to the Indo-Pacific area. It is classified as a Vulnerable species by the IUCN.
