Overview
The Discworld & Terry Pratchett Wiki describes Visit as an Omnian constable in Ankh-Morpork’s Watch. His gentle but persistent religious campaigning drives away crowds and irritates colleagues. He spends his wages on pamphlets, owns a printing press, and makes door-to-door visits with Smite-the-Unbeliever-With-Cunning-Arguments. His fellow officers call him Washpot; Vimes nevertheless considers him a good policeman.
The account places a revealing episode in The Fifth Elephant: during Fred Colon’s temporary command, Visit withdraws to the carrier-pigeon loft. He sings hymns and distributes pamphlets there, although the birds use the paper for nests. This episode carries his missionary purpose into his refuge at work; the comic failure does not extinguish his determination.
