Overview
Rohleder's 2024 grammar synopsis describes eleven months of fieldwork combining elicitation, interviews and other recorded genres. Its focus includes syntax and comparison with related languages, alongside community history. The university's indexed account locates Vamale on northeastern Grande Terre; no ceremonial speech, oral history, fable or legend is reproduced here.
A 2024 LACITO talk uses Vamale to discuss research in multilingual, postcolonial communities. It foregrounds informed consent, language contact, changing sound inventories and difficult social circumstances, stressing contextual judgment rather than ready-made solutions. This research-context account does not establish consent for any particular recording or imply that communities welcome every outsider.
