Overview
Thak is a powerful, hairy captive trained by Nabonidus as a servant and bodyguard. He rebels, wears the priest's robe and operates the house's traps. His careful handling of lethal lotus dust demonstrates understanding that his captor underestimated.
Nabonidus describes a mountain population with language, then speculates about its future development. That forecast is character testimony. Thak nearly defeats Conan through strength; Murilo's intervention enables a fatal sword strike. The episode concerns one individual's learning and revolt, not a reliable description of every member's temperament.
