Overview

Michael Lujan Bevacqua distinguishes intimate family ancestors, more remote predecessors and feared spirit representations influenced by colonial Christianization. In his account, ancestral aid includes protection and daily work; respectful relationships and kinship obligations matter. The later category includes variable human, animal and material appearances rather than a single monstrous body. Gamson of Pågo Bay is a named example of exceptional strength.

Named appearances also vary between Guampedia authors. Bevacqua describes Anufat with fangs, nails and a side wound bearing a fern. Art De Oro instead gives him a head opening containing a bird’s nest and unusually long teeth. These details remain separate reported depictions. They are not combined into one anatomical checklist or treated as proof that ancestral beings belong to an invented creature species.
