Overview

The Svan DoReCo record credits Jost Gippert with material compiled between 2002 and 2005, later processed for the reference corpus. Its dataset supports audio and annotation access with Georgian and English translation information. This is a particular documentation collection, not a census of Svan speakers or an exhaustive account of community life.

Alexander Rostovtsev-Popiel’s BivalTyp contribution uses elicitation with an Upper Bal dialect consultant. Its grammar notes explain how verb forms affect case marking in clauses. This situated research makes dialect and grammatical context explicit; the recorded examples should not be treated as one uniform speech practice across every Svan community.
