Overview
The official Strike-class guide describes Skrills as aggressive storm-followers that channel lightning along metallic spines and discharge it through the mouth. Stored power permits a later release rather than requiring a strike at the instant of attack. That capacity makes thunderstorms useful hunting or combat surroundings. The guide supplies a specific countermeasure: a Skrill cannot use its lightning attack from the water. This is the stated fictional weakness, not a real electrical-safety rule or evidence that an aquatic electrical dragon such as the Seashocker must share it.
School of Dragons' transcribed guide adds prolonged survival while frozen and an institutional effort to give Skrills a home and nesting place. Its promise of loyal partnership is much more optimistic than the official species page's warning that the dragon is almost untrainable, so the two presentations are kept in view. Skrill Diversion shows a wild animal attacking a Scuttleclaw nesting area and switching its attention to Stormfly when provoked. Astrid suggests an invasive predator, but the reference explicitly acknowledges insufficient evidence to decide whether the cold island lies outside its natural hunting range. Aggression in that encounter therefore does not settle the full ecological distribution.
First appearances & development
The selected witnesses are the undated official animated guide and School of Dragons' licensed-game account, including a later 2016 Titanwing implementation. This profile does not assign a precise earliest franchise debut from a game growth date. Named Skrills, colour variants and hybrid labels are not counted as separate entries.
Canon & continuity
Complete official prose and actual indexed game-guide/quest passages were read. The publisher's difficult-training warning and the game's optimistic companion language remain distinct rather than harmonised into guaranteed tameness. The freeze account is labelled game testimony; an invasion diagnosis is not asserted where the source itself leaves the hunting territory uncertain.
