Roi Mata’s farewell journey

Overview

The selected tradition credits Roi Mata with reconciling warring groups. After his brother’s poisoned dart, relatives carry the dying chief around Efate to farewell his people; he dies at Feles Cave.

The account continues through underwater Tukutuku caves to burial on Retoka alongside companions. These are attributed narrative details, not proof that archaeology establishes every episode. Burial dates and present access claims are not adopted.
