Imagined consultation and documentation supporting community planning.
Setting, tools and layout imagined; not ethnographic evidence.
Overview
Instituto Socioambiental’s Pankararu account locates the recognised Pankararu land near the São Francisco in Pernambuco and distinguishes it from Entre Serras, recognised in 2007. It describes community associations becoming legal interfaces for support agreements and projects. These institutional and territorial histories do not reduce Pankararu identity to a legal boundary or erase wider community connections.
A publication produced with Pankararu participants, Anaí and Funai describes participatory environmental planning at Entre Serras during 2014–2015. Workshops, interviews, guided walks and audiovisual records supported discussion of education, health, production and environmental priorities. Its public method provides evidence of community-led planning, without permission to copy maps or disclose sacred places and knowledge.
