Imagined public deliberation linked with environmental monitoring.
Setting, tools and layout imagined; not ethnographic evidence.
Overview
A July 2025 Ministry of Government account describes the Naso king and council representatives discussing the comarca’s boundaries and proposed organic charter. The General Council’s president requested renewed boundary work and attention to land invasion. These are distinct representative institutions within Panama; their political activity does not make Naso identity interchangeable with Panamanian citizenship.
In January 2026, MiAmbiente reported a Bonyic meeting with traditional authorities and the Naso territorial monitoring commission, Klun Kjër. Participants proposed joint work addressing environmental damage in protected areas and comarca lands. Planned inspections and technical reports show a contemporary governance process, rather than proof of completed enforcement or one unchanging practice shared by every household.
