Overview
Nana Ayesha Baba appears after Risana and Yar-Maso as another spirit associated in the account with itching. Tremearne says that she behaves in a similar manner, but gives her a separate name and song. That song describes her seeking men by crying when they do not come to her. It makes the desire for companionship part of the spirit’s characterization rather than a detached explanation of a performer’s movement.
The song also explains why she does not want to marry: she fears that a husband would later take a younger wife. Its repeated refusal of a rival ends with the prospect of punching. This short notice supplies a particular conflict between wanting men and resisting a marriage that could introduce a competitor. It does not provide a longer origin story or a separately described physical form, so those fields are left open.
