Overview
The Lithuanian Karaim community’s own account distinguishes its religious community from the Society of Lithuanian Karaim Culture, active since 1988. Both are non-profit organisations with their own governing structures. This distinction preserves cultural and institutional identity without treating every member’s religious practice as uniform.
Lithuania’s Department of National Minorities describes Karaim Sunday-school learning, dictionaries and phrasebooks, and summer language and culture schools in Trakai attended by children and adults from several countries. Its account places communities chiefly in Trakai, Vilnius and Panevėžys. Language transmission connects generations and borders without making citizenship identical to cultural affiliation.
