Overview

A liquid metal slime flattens the metallic slime concept into a silvery puddle with a face emerging from its flowing outline. Its appearance suggests mobility and instability rather than the tidy droplet of the original creature. Encounters commonly retain the metal family's formidable defenses, tendency to flee and valuable experience reward, making this unassuming shape a sought-after target.

It is distinct from both the basic metal slime and the poisonous bubble slime despite visual similarities. Specific games decide which abilities bypass its defenses, how readily it escapes and whether it can join a monster party. The entry therefore describes the recurring encounter role without importing a single game's damage calculation. Localized names also changed across older releases, so descriptions should be compared by design and Japanese identity as well as English label.

First appearances & development

Dragon Quest II (1987), Japanese original release. This entry follows the version represented by the primary works listed below, rather than treating the name as a single creature shared by every adaptation. Names, recruitment, spell lists and combat parameters differ between localizations, remakes and spin-offs; this profile describes the recurring design, not one universal stat block.

Canon & continuity

Primary basis: Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line (1987); comparison: Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age (2017). The linked reference guide collates released-game appearances and descriptions. Original games, remakes and localized spell names must be checked separately when exact mechanics matter. This entry summarizes recurring design and selected narrative examples without reproducing game text or claiming exhaustive bibliography.
