Overview
The Lango Cultural Foundation describes a northern Ugandan homeland including Lira, Apac and neighbouring districts. Its community account connects oral storytelling with the transmission of knowledge between generations.
The foundation dates the beginning of a UK community to the early 1980s, when families sought refuge from political unrest. Language classes and cultural gatherings are described as means of maintaining connections.
The UK charity register records a constitution adopted in March 2021. Its stated objects include Lango language teaching, oral history, storytelling and dance; objectives are distinguished from measured programme outcomes.
