Overview

Kyōrinrin appears as a long-necked creature formed from written sheets and scroll-like material. Rolled documents project behind its head, and a flame-shaped tuft or fringe rises above them. One elongated arm holds a bowl or cup; the other reaches toward a narrow rod. Loose manuscripts, bound books and a small stand fill the foreground beneath its paper-covered body.

The label 経凛々 identifies this animated textual object. Visible writing remains part of the monster’s structure, giving a specific material basis for the apparition instead of treating it as an unrelated dragon. The page establishes books and written material personified within Sekien’s object collection. A complete claim about neglected sacred learning or a scholar’s conduct would require fuller interpretation of the commentary, which has not been completely transcribed here.
