Overview

Kworrom is connected with a precise roadside setting: he lives beneath the roots of trees that grow across a road and makes passing travellers stumble. Tremearne says that travellers know him well. The accompanying song tells boys to stop coming for wood, giving the spirit’s place among trees an additional conflict with people collecting material rather than merely naming an abstract forest power.

The performance begins with a fall onto the face, continues with lying on the back, and then turns the body so that the legs are above the head. The song names him as seizing someone and bending the buttocks. Continual movement and diarrhoea are also attributed to him, while the collector’s tentative diagnostic comparison is separate. The source supports the root-dwelling traveller threat and a specific bodily representation without a guessed animal shape.
