Overview

Desch accompanies the Warriors of Light. The publisher's original-version account introduces him as a mysterious arrival in Canaan. Despite losing his memory, he retains a strong sense of purpose and travels with the heroes for part of their journey. That purpose is connected with the Tower of Owen.

His intended gameplay role was larger. In a retrospective interview, Takashi Tokita recalls plans for Final Fantasy III to have five party members, with Desch participating. The interviewer distinguishes the released original game's accompanying characters from battle participants. This development account concerns an unrealized plan, not a fifth playable member in the finished original game.
