Overview
Taye’s 2015 Addis Ababa dissertation reports that the label Shabo lacks a basis among speakers and neighbouring groups. It documents Chabu consonants, vowels and meaningful length and tone distinctions, together with a person-oriented demonstrative system. The naming statement is attributed to this study.
Teferra’s 1991 grammar sketch surveys phonology, noun and verb morphology, noun phrases, postpositions and word order. ERIC locates its subject in south-central Ethiopia. The older abstract’s classification language is historical and does not settle present genealogical affiliation.
