Camouflage netting shuttle
Overview
Kate Hilda Ford used this wooden shuttle for camouflage netting. Its two ends have deep U-shaped openings; two small thread holes pierce one end. The maker is unknown.
Ford and her daughter joined Brisbane’s volunteer camouflage-net makers. Army-supplied green twine was knotted into squares and assembled into nets. When illness prevented her travelling, Ford worked at home; a measuring paddle kept the squares consistent.
