Overview
The World Spider Catalog lists Argyrodes elevatus Taczanowski, 1873 under Theridiidae. The catalogue’s name and bibliographic history identify the taxon; they do not establish a particular colour pattern, the lifespan of a depicted individual or a global behavioural rule.
Rosales-García and colleagues filmed Argyrodes elevatus approaching food in Trichonephila clavipes webs after the host caught a cricket. Their Xalapa collections supported a controlled study of routes, speed and repeated visits. Individual paths varied; no universal route was established.
Movement was faster near web edges and slower near the hub, with frequent detours and repeated approaches. This structured laboratory behaviour supports a conceptual web diagram, while species anatomy and any illustrated route must remain explicitly schematic.
